Blossa 18 heads to the Amalfi Coast with a taste of limoncello and Mediterranean herbs
Each year, Blossa travels to new locations around the world to seek inspiration for its annual vintage glögg. Amidst serpentine roads, steep mountain sides and vast lemon groves, Blossa found the destination that has inspired this year’s flavour: the Italian Amalfi Coast. This year's glögg has a taste of limoncello and the Mediterranean herbs of rosemary, thyme and basil.
The Amalfi Coast is called La Divina Costiera – or the Divine Coast – for a very good reason. It's here they grow the large, sun-ripened Ovale di Sorrento lemons from which limoncello is made. The fruitiness of these unique lemons gives this year’s glögg a fresh citrus note that is complemented with rosemary, thyme and basil – herbs associated with warmth, sea and sunny landscapes.
“Since 2011, Blossa has travelled the world to find flavours for its vintage glögg. In 2018, we have been inspired by the Italian Amalfi Coast. Blossa 18 di Limone has a taste of limoncello that gives it a mild and sweet citrus notes. The flavour is an excellent marriage with the traditional Blossa glögg herbs and notes of rosemary, thyme and basil. Blossa 18 is an exciting combination of sunny Mediterranean and classic Nordic Christmas,” says Åsa Orsvärn, Chief Blender for Blossa.
The turquoise bottle brings to mind the glittering Mediterranean Sea along the Amalfi Coast. This year's design has been inspired by classic Italian delicatessen packaging and the Futurism movement that originated in Italy in the early 20th Century. The sunburst yellow cork pays homage to the lemons and limoncello that inspired the flavour of Blossa 18 di Limone.

Blossa has launched a new flavour ahead of every winter season since 2003. Up to 2010, Blossa sought its inspiration from the Nordic winter with flavours such as lingon, saffron and winter apple. Each vintage has a new and unique bottle design.
Since 2011, Blossa has cast its net wider when seeking inspiration for its vintage glögg. The classic glögg herbs have been blended with new and exciting flavours from every corner of the world. In recent years, Blossa has seeked inspiration for example from South America, Japan, England and India.
