Aleksandrs' long career at Anora has been a great journey, filled with collaboration, continuous learning, and most importantly, great colleagues
Aleksandrs Kovalovs, Logistics Manager
Aleksandrs Kovalovs’ career at Anora began nearly two decades ago, and during this time he has had the opportunity to work in several different functions, from Procurement Assistant to leading procurement to purchasing. Currently, Aleksandrs works as a Logistics Manager for Anora Latvia.
“I'm currently in my 18th year at the company. For the last decade, I have taken the lead in managing logistics in Latvia. My tenure as a purchaser was marked by change and growth, which opened more opportunities. Becoming a manager has changed my perspective; each day presents new challenges. Our logistics operations involve dealing with various people – vendors, agents, suppliers, and our logistics team both in Latvia and other Anora countries. There are often tricky situations in our daily operations, but we always aim to do our best to supply our market and customers while handling the challenges as a team.”
Aleksandrs has a dual degree from both logistics and IT, which has proven to be useful as a key SAP user, in testing new versions, managing master data for purchasing and sales processes, and for being the “go-to IT person” at the Latvian office. Daily duties in running the logistics operations in Latvia include managing our third-party logistics partner, communicating with the Latvian logistics team, managing purchase orders and warehouse operations, and ensuring products are delivered punctually to our customers.
“The right attitude is essential for getting the job done; everyone who works with customers has to understand the importance of immediate and accurate fulfillment of sales orders. I enjoy the fast pace and constant innovation in both logistics and IT, where every day brings something new.”
For Aleksandrs, people are the most enjoyable part of the job. Some of his closest colleagues have been around for almost as many years, making it both fun to work together as well as enabling continuous improvement in the everyday work. “When substituting each other’s roles, you always come up with things to improve and do differently; working in other roles makes the whole team better,” Aleksandrs continues.
“I value the international environment at Anora. I enjoy working with colleagues from Estonia, Finland, and the other Nordic countries, and especially opportunities for face-to-face interaction. The Anorachella summer party was a particularly enjoyable event! Also, our new office in Riga is great and has encouraged returning to the office.”
Aleksandrs applies "Courage to Explore" into his daily work: “Taking the initiative, evaluating processes, and looking at the big picture. This is helping me provide fresh insights that could enhance our operations. Working at Anora is a great journey, filled with collaboration and continuous learning, and most importantly, great colleagues that make the everyday meaningful.”
