Blossa 2025 takes us to Alpine peaks – The first-ever annual Blossa made with red wine

This year's annual limited edition glögg takes us to snowy valleys and fir-covered mountain peaks, finally landing in the Alps. Since the inception of Blossa's more than 20-year tradition of an annual glögg, a red variant has been highly requested among glögg enthusiasts — and this year, for the very first time, it's happening. The glögg is a tribute to the classic glühwein, naturally with a Blossa twist.

The reason why Blossa's previous annual editions have been based on white wine is simple: Blossa only uses natural ingredients. When Blossa flavors its glögg – for instance, with raspberries – only real berries are used in the extraction process. No shortcuts are taken. This makes it more challenging to bring out the flavors in a glögg based on red wine, where the strong character of the wine can dominate. But this year, Blossa took on the challenge, resulting in its first annual glögg made with red wine.

"Glögg and glühwein are closely related. The less sweet glühwein has for many a strong connection to German-speaking countries – not least the Alps," says Åsa Orsvärn, Chief Blender of Blossa.

"The Alps feel like the perfect destination for Blossa, both because of the connection to glühwein and because the majestic, snow-covered mountain range truly invokes curiosity and a sense of winter adventure."

Blossa 2025 is a starkvinsglögg made with red wine, characterized by lemon zest, dried bitter orange peel, and spruce tips. A dash of juniper berries has been added to enhance the forest-like flavor. The bright green spruce tips are Blossa's homage to the pristine and fresh Alpine environment. This interpretation of glühwein is combined with Blossa's characteristic glögg spices. As usual, the spices have been macerated and matured for at least five months before they are blended with the other ingredients.

Glögg Mug in Collaboration with Rörstrand

For this year's edition of the annual glögg, a unique mug has been launched, created in collaboration between Blossa and the prestigious porcelain brand Rörstrand. With nearly 300 years of experience in timeless Swedish design and craftsmanship, Rörstrand shares the same dedication to tradition and quality as Blossa. The mug, like the bottle, features a design inspired by the Alpine landscape.

"The glögg mug is not only perfect for warming your hands on chilly days but also makes an excellent gift for hosts of this winter's glögg gatherings," says Emelie Eriksson, Senior Global Brand Manager of Blossa. "We are very proud of this collaboration, and who knows? Perhaps in coming years, it might become as desirable a collector's item as the annual glögg itself."

Tips for Enjoying Blossa 2025

"Blossa 25 can be enjoyed warm or cold. Personally, I prefer it cold up until the first Sunday of Advent. After that, I recommend enjoying it warm, like a classic glühwein in a mug," says Åsa Orsvärn.

Blossa 25 will be available as a starkvinsglögg (15% ABV) in all Nordic markets, Latvia, Estonia, United Kingdom and Germany. The alcohol free variant will be sold only in Sweden and Finland. Both are available in a 750 ml glass bottle. The collaboration mug with Rörstrand will only be available in Sweden.

Since 2003, Blossa has launched a new flavor for each winter season. Every year, the bottle has also been given a new unique design, which has made every annual variant a sought-after collector's item. Until 2010, Blossa took inspiration from the Nordic winter and Christmas for the annual glögg, but since 2011 they have gone out in the world to seek inspiration. Blossa's classic glögg spices have since been mixed with new and exciting flavors from all corners of the world.
